This study, entitled "Factors of Semantic Evolution of Borrowed Arabic Words in Hausa Society", aimed to clarify the concept of semantic evolution and to identify its most important factors and main images in borrowed Arabic words in Hausa language and characterize them in the light of semantic studies of language, in terms of their daily uses in society and in the conversations of various media at Hausa society in Nigerian, in order to form cognitive perceptions to develop a theoretical base that can be applied and relied upon in the teaching of language, for the service of language and society together.
The researcher was able to reach the following results:
Language is successively followed by sets of connotations or meanings according to certain circumstances imposed by social contexts outside the language or circumstances that have a direct relationship within the language itself to:
1- The need of the Hausa society for new and more expressive words to express political and commercial meanings, scientific terms and others.
2- The affectedness of Hausa poets and writers by the artistic creations of Arabs from poetry and prose is one of the strongest factors for the development of the semantics of borrowed Arabic words in the Hausa language.
- Misunderstanding was one of the reasons for deriving new connotations from borrowed words and using them in Hausa society.
The researcher made the following recommendations:
Conducting more statistical studies to determine the number of extinct Arabic words in the Hausa language, and to study the factors of semantic evolutions in the current society due to the use and as a result of the emergence of modern media.
