Modern strategies in teaching grammar and their impact on the academic achievement of general education students

This research aims to identify the impact of modern strategies in teaching grammar on the academic achievement of general education students. It focused on six strategies: text strategy, problem-solving strategy, inquiry strategy, dialogue and discussion strategy, conceptual mapping strategy, and think-pair-share strategy. The research relied on the descriptive analytical approach based on data collection, processing, classification and analysis. It research reached several results, including: that the text strategy is a better strategy to achieve the objectives set for grammatical rules, that the problem-solving strategy allows students to be guided by it in their work and thus increases their academic achievement in grammar, that the inquiry strategy makes learning revolve around the student and hence positively affects academic achievement in grammar, that the dialogue and discussion strategy increases student achievement in grammar, that the think-pair-share strategy increases learning motivation and consequently increases the level of academic achievement in grammar, and that the conceptual mapping strategy effects to focus the learners’ attention and guide them to the way to organize their ideas which contributes to increasing their academic achievement in grammar.
