The topic of this paper is studying the term ‘azeez al-hadeeth as used by Al-Haafizh Ibn ‘Uday in his book entitled Al-Kaamil fi Du‘afaa’ Al-Rijaal، since there is no research - to the best of my knowledge - that has been specifically devoted to the subject. This paper aims clarify what Ibn ‘Uday means when he described someone as being ‘azeez al-hadeeth، comprehensively study all narrators whom he said that about، determining how many narrations each one of them transmitted، determining whether Ibn ‘Uday only used the term when describing narrators whose narrations were few or whether he also used it for those whose narrations were many، and clarifying whether the term was used by Ibn ‘Uday alone or by other scholars who were experts in evaluating narrators and narrations. In reaching those aims، I have used the inductive and deductive approaches. The paper limits itself to studying the term ‘azeez al-hadeeth as used by Al-Haafizh Ibn ‘Uday in Al-Kaamil fi Du‘afa'a Al-Rijaal. The paper is divided into an introduction، two chapters، and a conclusion that contains the most important results and recommendations.
