Abstract

The connection of the readings with the Islamic and Arabic sciences is a close one. This is shown by the requirement of the scholars regarding what the reciter must teach him of jurisprudence, principles, language and interpretation, in order to direct what he needs, and ward off doubts and objections about the readings.

The purpose of this study is to identify those trends and disputes, with what has been prepared for them in contemporary scientific research and studies, and to present some of their models, and practical examples of them, through the approach of their mentors.

The researcher dealt with the concept of directing readings and protesting for them, the emergence of the science of guidance and protesting readings, the doctrinal trend, the explanatory trend, the jurisprudential trend, the rhetorical trend, and the linguistic trend.

Among the most important findings of the study:

1 / The concept of guidance and protest in the Qur’anic readings hardly differs greatly from protest, except that some of the later people have preferred its use over the term protest, lest it be illusion that the proof of the reading depends on its justification.

2/ The study showed that the term “choice” is acceptable to be used in the case of the novel, not in the place of guidance, because the confusion between them in dealing with readings leads to a rejected methodological defect.

3/ The study revealed through the titles of its sections about contemporary trends in guidance, and from these trends we have prepared what can be called the doctrinal direction, the explanatory trend, the jurisprudential trend, and other trends highlighted by the titles of this study.
