What Imam Al-Sam'ani attributed to the general interpreters in his book (Interpretation of the Qur'an)

Abstract

This research deals with collecting and studying the sayings attributed by Imam al-Sam'ani to the general commentators through his interpretation. The research aimed to extrapolate the interpretive issues in which Imam al-Sam'ani attributed a saying to the general commentators; to show the value of the sayings attributed to them, by collecting the other sayings of the commentators on those issues, and studying them with a comparative interpretive study, and before that looking at the validity of those sayings narrated by al-Sam'ani, then highlighting his approach to those sayings attributed to the general commentators, and knowing the methods of presenting them; to clarify the extent of the accuracy of their presentation or not.

In studying this research, I followed the inductive and analytical approach in presenting the statements attributed by Al-Sam’ani to the majority of commentators, analyzing them, and comparing them with what other commentators said.

The research was divided into an introduction, two chapters, a conclusion, and indexes. The introduction explains the importance of the topic, the reasons for choosing it, its objectives, the limits of the research, previous studies, the research plan, the research methodology, and the research procedures. The first chapter introduces Imam al-Sam'ani, his interpretation, and the synonymous formulas of the phrase "general interpreters" through the research subject of the study. The second chapter studies the statements he attributed to general interpreters, which includes nine issues, then the conclusion, which includes the most important results and recommendations, including: Al-Sam'ani's position in his preferences in the issues in which he attributes a statement to general interpreters, was in agreement - mostly - with the statement of the majority, not in disagreement with it. Among the recommendations presented by the research: studying the synonymous formulas for the formula: "general interpreters" in Imam al-Sam'ani's interpretation: "Interpretation of the Qur'an."
