The role and sanctity of temples among the Arabs of the South

Abstract

The researcher endeavors to give an answer from a scientific aspect for the following question: What are temples? In an attempt to answer that question, the research was distributed into three essential axes ,which make temple's meaning standout, as hereunder:

First axe: Temples influence, which is manifested through the following dimensions: Ways of building and decorations. Financial dimension by possessing lands and taxes. Authoritarian dimension in participating with the ruler in ruling matters. Second dimension, rituals of temples ,which make the amount of Goddess followers submission prominent. It is  represented in sanctity of temple entry as well as purity of entrants to temples, offerings and pilgrimage. Third axes, the priests as a linking tool between religious life and worldly one.
