Abstract

The research aims to know the social reality of women in the Tihama of Yemen before the 1962 revolution, and to shed light on this reality, as women are an essential pillar of society, through several axes, the most important of which are:

  • The position of women in the Tuhami society, and his view of her, which was represented by not recognizing her active economic and social role, and looking at her as a source of shame for her family, and that she was created only to have children and raise them, which is a deficient view that reflects ignorance and the traditional culture of society at that time.
  • The educational reality, which was limited to religious education represented by the sign, mosques and ligaments, where women in Yemen in general, and women in Tihama in particular, did not register any participation in this aspect during that period, and therefore women remained in Tihama for their illiteracy until the outbreak of the revolution September 1962 AD, which women achieved a share of education, but the rate of their enrollment in educational stages remained low compared to males, and the main reason is due to economic, social and educational factors.
  • Finally, the most important findings of the research.
