Mutawatir Readings in Lexical Usage: “Chapter of Al-Fa” from Al-Ubab Al-Zakhir Wal-Lubab Al-Fakhir by Imam Al-Saghani as a Model

Abstract

This is research with the title of: "Mutawatir" Readings in Lexical Usage: “Chapter of Al-Fa” from Al-Ubab Al-Zakhir Wal-Lubab Al-Fakhir by Imam Al-Saghani as a Model.

This research aims to demonstrate "Mutawatir" Qur'anic readings in terms of lexical usage within the chapter of Fa from Imam Al-Saghani's dictionary: Al-Ubaab Al-Zakhir Wal-Lubab Al-Fakhir, in addition to inferring, studying, and directing these readings, besides shedding light on Al-Saghani's focus on "Mutawatir" readings, and utilizing them as proof for the meanings and their accuracy.

The Qur'anic verses in the study were arranged by the lexical order found in the subdivisions of the chapter of Fa. Each verse was introduced by identifying the chapter with the letter, followed by the lexical material and then the verse itself. Afterward, I presented the text where Al-Saghani relied on "Mutawatir" readings for lexical usage to convey the meaning, then it was addressed by study.

The key findings:

• Al-Sagani arranged his dictionary alphabetically according to the last letter of the word, using the system of chapters and sections, where the endings of words are categorized as chapters, and their beginnings as subdivisions.
• There are fourteen Qur'anic locations, specified in twelve chapters, where Imam Al-Saghani cited the "Mutawatir" readings for meaning and relevance in the chapter of Fa.

Recommendations:

• Focusing on studying "Mutawatir" readings in lexical usage in the rest of the chapters of the letters of the dictionary Al-Ubaab Al-Zakhir Wal-Lubab Al-Fakhir.
• More specialized studies that demonstrate the relationships between Qur'anic sciences and linguistic and semantic sciences.
