Abstract

This study aimed to reveal the fundamentals of grammar relied on by Qutrub in his book "The Meanings of the Qur'an", to stand on the methods of Qutrub in the interpretation of meaning in his book, to determine the position of Qutrub from linguistic scholars in his dealing with grammatical and semantic issues, to highlight the linguistic status of Qutrub through his book "The meanings of the Qur'an", and to grasp the uniqueness of Qutrub in his book "The Meanings of the Qur'an". The descriptive approach has been relying on to answer the questions of the study. The study reached a set of results, the most important of which are: Qutrub's reliance on the fundamentals of grammar: hearing, analogy, consensus, companionship of case, and his frequent pretexting by the Holy Qur'an and Qur'anic readings, in addition to his following the Basrian doctrine, relying on meaning a lot, and the development of his semantic study. The researcher stressed that this study is useful in developing objective dictionaries, and the possibility of building a dictionary that includes words that had acquired new meanings with the advent of Islam.
