Meticulous Speech in the Chapter on Annihilation from the Book Madarij Al-Salikeen by Ibn Al-Qayyim

Abstract

The books of the predecessors to preserve conviction and clear it of all defilements. Moreover, using all appropriate and correct methods, they disproved suspicions and refuted fallacies in order to elucidate what is right and wrong. In his book Madarij Al-Salikeen, Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim dealt with the chapter on annihilation with study and inspection. He had scrutinized treatment to matters regarding annihilation that were deep and difficult to access, and were controversial in ancient and modern philosophical literature. Thus, it is imperative to attain to research and track these matters in order to clarify the predecessors' efforts and their understanding of issues of meticulous speech. This study examines the Imam's approach in handling the issue of meticulous speech in the chapter on annihilation. The research method adopted is inductive comparative analytical approach.

The study yielded a number of results, among which are: that, in the chapter on annihilation, there are some deep issues including the servant's lucks and pleasures, differentiation, science and knowledge, approval and disapproval, etc. In his treatment of deep annihilation issues, Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim presented them and stated the correct position by eliminating hanging anomalies. Also, that most of these issues occupied theologians and philosophers.

Recommendations: Studying the different types of dispersion and their impact on Muslims in current time; studying of the precise issues in the chapter on patience from the book Madarij as-Salikeen
