The embellishment of the Qur'an through the narratives found in the book "Al-Masahif" by Ibn Abi Dawud (d. 316 AH): An Overview and Study"

Abstract

This research aims to elucidate the embellishment of the Qur'an through the narratives found in the book "Al-Masahif" by Ibn Abi Dawud (d. 316 AH), highlighting the efforts of the Imam and introducing his book "Al-Masahif," its value, and its scientific significance. It also aims to outline the stages of attention given to the embellishment of the Qur'an, express the opinions of scholars on the matter, and clarify the prevailing views within the research data. The research relies on the descriptive-analytical approach and the inductive method in "Al-Masahif" and in ancient and modern writings related to the study topic, as well as the deductive method through deriving judgments from texts, consensus, and analogy. The research consists of an introduction discussing the importance and objectives of the study, followed by four sections. The study resulted in several findings, among the most prominent of which are that "Al-Masahif" is one of the books relied upon by scholars, cited in their issues, especially in works concerned with the sciences of the Qur'an. Additionally, the study demonstrated the concerted efforts of Muslims in serving and preserving the Qur'an since its revelation to the present day.
