Philosophical Proofs on the Existence of God According to Descartes "A Critical study"
Keywords:
Descartes, philosophical proofs, the existence of GodAbstract
The research deals with the philosophical proofs on the existence of God according to Descartes, a critical study, and aims at displaying the philosopher Descartes' proofs on the existence of God that aroused controversy among philosophers and researchers who split between supporters, contradictors and critics.
The research adopts the descriptive analytical approach based on induction and criticism, by extrapolating Descartes' proofs on the existence of God from his books, then the critical approach according to the belief of Ahl Al-Sunnah and Consensus.
The research is divided into an introduction and two chapters. In the introduction, the general presentation of Descartes and his philosophy is carried out. The first chapter details Descartes' proofs on the existence of God, while the second chapter shows the position on the proofs of Descartes.
The research concludes with its most important results that Descartes' evidence on the existence of God is correct evidence and there is no trick in it in general, but the biggest problem is in limiting the methods of inference to the existence of God in his only evidence, and in his philosophical approach that includes doubt in the senses and in how to prove the external world, which made him take an extreme, complicated path, and turned him away from the clear paths.
The research also recommends studying the positions of some modern philosophers on the issue of divine existence, and displaying their pros and their cons, such as the position of: Anselm, Kant, and others.
