Aspects of the narration of Ḥadīthin its meaning
Keywords:
Narration, Hadith and meaningAbstract
The narration of Ḥadīthin its meaning instead of it text; changingexpression by another one، shortening theḤadīththrough confining to some of its expressions، inversion، narrator's shift ofḤadīthcomposition، or dismemberment، all of these topics are included in the principalḤadīthsciences.
To shed light on this topic، disambiguate the dispute area، to makeits rules and fundamentals clear and apparentand to determine thereofis a critical scientific necessity; in order to nullifythe suspicions of Sunnah deniers and skeptics in its authority، and to show their illusion and error.
Based on following-up and thorough examinationof the words of the scholars in this matter، it became evident that they do agree that the best and most complete isthe narration ofḤadīthin its prophetic expression and whomsoever has no knowledge of the Arabic Language and how meanings are being changedis forbidden from narrating Ḥadīthin its meaning. Consensus is held that the specific words used for worship، such as: al-Adhan (the call to prayer)، al-Iqamah(announcement of the commencement of prayer) and at-Tashahhud(testimony of faith)which are used for worshipping can only narrated by expression. Scholars are agreed thatḤadīthcan be mentioned in meaning in the context of teaching، giving formal legal opinionand argumentationand so on، such asother contexts that are not intended to narration orteachingḤadīth. Consensus has been held thattranslation of the Prophetic Ḥadīthinto a language other than Arabic is permissible، which is a type of narrating Ḥadīthin meaning.
Among the aspectsthat should be learned: the Ḥadīth narrated in meaning cannotbe opposed bytheḤadīth narrated by the Prophetic expression. thenarration of Ḥadīthin its meaning is an interpretive reading of the Ḥadīth; it is a kind of interpretation and exegesis of the Ḥadīth، and that the short narration is explained and interpretedby the full and prolongated narration. May Allah'sPrayers and Blessings be uponour Prophet Muhammad، his family and Companions ".
