This research aims to study the argumentative dimension in an ancient narrative discourse, the book: "Al-Hafawat Al-Nadirah", the study of its records and the tracking of its means, to determine its role in enabling the speaker to influence or persuade the recipient of the theses presented to him/her or to increase the degree of such persuasion, without explication.
The research consists of two main themes: the first theme examines the argumentative dimension of characters' discourse, and aims to trace its positions, reveal its methods, and demonstrate its persuasive effect. The second theme examines the argumentative dimension in the narrator's speech, and is centered on highlighting its means and demonstrating its role in convincing the narrated to. The research in its analytical approach relies on the statements of the rhetorical argumentations and the premises of the argumentation' rhetoric, both in the old rhetoric and in the new rhetoric.
The research yielded numerous findings, most notably: the concomitant of the argumentative dimension to narrative discourse, the diversity of its manifestations, and that the argumentative dimension was present in the old narrative discourse.
