The Art of Stenography in Women's Short Stories: Grey Faces as a Model

Abstract

This study aims to display the art of Stenography and trace its pathways by examining the techniques and patterns of (condensation – symbolism – omission – intertextuality) and their presence in the women's short story titled Grey Faces by Nawal Al-Suwailem. The goal is to engage the reader in the search for deep meanings and connotations, and to delve into their nuances embedded in brevity and conciseness. This study relies on the data of both the structural and the constructive approaches. It concludes that there is a multiplicity of reduction techniques in women’s short stories, considered as critical tools that help the reader understand and interpret the text and bring out its meanings.
