The aim of this research is to clarify the phenomenon of proverbial quotation: (direct / modified / indicative) in the Maqamat (=poetic modes) of Al-Hariri (d. 516 AH), whether it is a direct quotation, adjusted or indicative, and how to employ the proverbs - under study - within the new contexts in these Maqamat. The nature of the study required relying on the descriptive and analytical approach which monitors indicative texts and analyzes them within new contexts. The research reached a set of results, perhaps the most prominent of which is: that Al-Hariri benefitted from ancient Arabic proverbs in enriching his poetic and prose texts equally, and his use of these proverbs came in a variety of ways in order to support his point of view and convince the recipient of it. The research recommends conducting more studies that shed light on ancient poetic and prose texts and their relationship with other various texts that precede or are contemporary with them. This - of course - requires attributing meanings and ideas to their owners and dismantling the internal structures of texts, in order to connect with them, explore their depths and explain the extent of their connection and relationship in some way or its differences and contrasts in other ways.
