Interpretations of Allah’s Saying about Jesus: { وإن تغفر لهم فإنك أنت العزيز الحكيم} the Issues Deducted from it, the Significance of the Verse and its Analogues on the Prohibition of Supplication for Forgiveness for those who Die as Disbelievers
Abstract
Research topic:
Displaying different interpretations of Allah's saying:
{ وإن تغفر لهم فإنك أنت العزيز الحكيم}, and what rulings it implicates regarding requesting forgiveness for those who die as disbelievers.
Research importance and objectives:
- This research aims at clarifying the invalidity of quoting Allah's saying: { وإن تغفر لهم فإنك أنت العزيز الحكيم} on supplication for forgiveness and mercy for those who die on as disbelievers.
- Explanation of the aspect of combining the verses of the Holy Qur’an when there is suspicion of conflict.
Research methodology: Descriptive, analytical, inductive and deductive approaches.
The most significant findings:
- The science of interpretation is a great scholarly work, looking into the words of God; hence, it is not permissible to dare to interpret any of it except for one who possesses the talent of deduction and interpretation.
- Scholars have agreed that it not permissible to pray for forgiveness for disbelievers, based on the clear Qur’anic verses.
- Jesus, the Prophet of God, did not ask God’s forgiveness for those who did not believe in Him, or associated others with Him. Besides, the verse – which is the subject of this research – does not include what might contradict this matter; and if it exists, it contradicts other evidences on which the research was based.
