Research topic:

Displaying different interpretations of Allah's saying:

 {  وإن تغفر لهم فإنك أنت العزيز الحكيم}, and what rulings it implicates regarding requesting forgiveness for those who die as disbelievers.

Research importance and objectives:

1. This research aims at clarifying the invalidity of quoting Allah's saying: {  وإن تغفر لهم فإنك أنت العزيز الحكيم} on supplication for forgiveness and mercy for those who die on as disbelievers.
2. Explanation of the aspect of combining the verses of the Holy Qur’an when there is suspicion of conflict.

Research methodology: Descriptive, analytical, inductive and deductive approaches.

The most significant findings:

1. The science of interpretation is a great scholarly work, looking into the words of God; hence, it is not permissible to dare to interpret any of it except for one who possesses the talent of deduction and interpretation.
2. Scholars have agreed that it not permissible to pray for forgiveness for disbelievers, based on the clear Qur’anic verses.
3. Jesus, the Prophet of God, did not ask God’s forgiveness for those who did not believe in Him, or associated others with Him. Besides, the verse – which is the subject of this research – does not include what might contradict this matter; and if it exists, it contradicts other evidences on which the research was based.
