Abstract

This research discusses the definition of “the foam of the sea” and clarifies the meaning of “the forgiveness of sins” even if these sins are like the foam of the sea.

Eighteen narrations were compiled in this regard and their chains of authority were examined and judged in terms of acceptance and rejection. Then, it was shown that the accepted narrations are nine which are the narrations of saying la elaha ela Allah “there is no God but Allah’, alhamdu lellah “all Praise is due to Allah”, subhan Allah“”, Allahu akbar “Allah is the greatest”, and la hawl wala quwata ela bellah “there is no power nor might save in Allah” as it was said by the prophet (May God's peace and blessings be upon him). Also, the narrations of “the prayer to praise God”, standing on the day of Arafa, and the muslim’s shaking hands with his Muslim brother were accepted.

The other nine narrations are rejected. None of them is valid and accepted other than the narrations of “the prayer to praise God” as it was explained in its place. The narrations of seeking Allah’s forgiveness are not accepted as well.
