This research examines nominative cases from the perspective of their strengths and weaknesses, given their central importance in the structure of Arabic sentences. The research begins with the definition of nominative cases according to grammarians, then defines the concepts of strength and weakness in grammatical terminology. Strength refers to the grammatical element's mastery of its functional and semantic features, while weakness is the opposite.
The research employs a descriptive-analytical approach. I consulted classical grammar books, cited the opinions of grammarians, compared them, and referenced Quranic verses and poetic lines that illustrate these rules.
The nature of the research necessitated its division into three chapters. The first chapter focused on the subject and its strengths, the second on the subject and predicate, and the third on the passive subject.
The study concluded that the subject is the strongest of the nominative cases in terms of both grammatical function and meaning, because it is inseparable from the verb and the meaning cannot exist without it. The subject and predicate, on the other hand, possess strength in terms of the stability of the nominal sentence; however, their strength may be diminished if the subject is delayed or replaced by something else. The study also revealed that nominative cases have a rhetorical and semantic effect in emphasizing and clarifying meaning. They are not merely rigid rules but rather influence the strength and clarity of meaning.
