Abstract

The research aims to expose the danger of Orientalism and the Sabian-Mandaean religion.

It is based on the analytical inductive method.

The research dealt with the concept of Sabeans, the concept of Orientalism, the goals of orientalists, the history of Orientalism in the Sabean Mandaean religion, the position of the Mandaean Sabeans towards the work of orientalists, and examples of some orientalists.

The research concluded with results, the most important of which are:

1- The term Sabean idiomatic. Scientists differed about it with several sayings revolving around the origin of the name, and contemporary Sabeans refer it to the word sabbah, which means washing with water, with their adherence to the word Mandaean synonymous with the word Sabean.

2- The Mandaean Sabeans is a mystical gnostic sect closed in on itself, which made its sons use the writings of orientalists to explore them.

3- The different reactions of the Sabean-Mandaean sect about the works of orientalists between: glorifying their work and criticizing it.

4- The goals of orientalists about the Sabian-Mandaean religion are demolition, skepticism, Christianization and other of their necessarily known goals.

5- Most of the works of orientalists focused on translating some of their sacred books into their languages.
