Abstract

The research deals with the study of two geographical areas that have been inhabited since ancient times: the coast and the interior. A natural barrier separates them, represented by the southern plateau of Hadhramaut, which is called in the inscriptions in the Al-Sut region (RES 3945/13) until today, in addition to the place names and flags on the coast of Hadhramaut mentioned in the inscriptions.

It relied on the analytical inductive method.

Among the most prominent search results:

1/ The word “Al-Hayq” is equivalent in meaning to the coast, and it is still used by the people of the Hadhramaut coast in the same sense (the coast) and it does not mean the port, according to the interpretation of the Sabian lexicon.

2/ On the coast of Hadhramaut, there are several places spread along the coast, which the people call Al-Mujaddah, and they are dumps where fishermen descend from the sea.

3/ The study showed the economic importance of the Hadhramaut coast region.
