Abstract

Research Title: The position of the four imams on the Scholastic Theology.

The research includes a preamble، four chapters، and a conclusion as shown in the research plan. It has been revealed through the research the agreement of the four imams: Abu Hanifa، Malik bin Anas، Shafi'I، and Ahmed bin Hanbal (may Allah have mercy upon them) that Belief must be received from their original sources. This resulted into their agreement on the principles of belief and safety of those principles from religious innovations and heresies. The Scholastic Theology is based on proving the religious beliefs through rational evidence، which contributed to the emergence of religious innovations and heresies، and assisted in increasing their deviation; the four imams began to indicate its danger to the religion and belief، so they revealed its reality، because it includes premises، rules، and deviant methodologies. So their statements increased in clarifying it and showing its evil consequences، and warning of companying them، and necessity of abandoning them، and being harsh with them until they repent of it; so their position had its good effects and praiseworthy consequences as people realized the falsity of the Scholastic Theology and its bad repercussions، so they turned away from it and abandoned its advocates، and followed the path of Sunnah. Praise be to Allah that none of the four imams neither joined them، nor commended it or licensed engaging in it. Whatever is attributed to them that they engaged in it is false and blatant lie against those imams. This was the summary of the content of the research. May the blessings of Allah be upon Muhammad، his family، and his Companions.
