Sheikh Faleh Al-Dhaheri and his Contribution to Historical Writing

Abstract

Research objectives: The research aims to highlight the role of Faleh bin Muhammad Al-Dhaheri in historical writing, and to reveal the state of historical writing in his era, which covers the second half of the thirteenth century AH, and the beginning of the fourteenth century AH, as he was born in (1256 AH / 1840 AD), and died in (1328 AH / 1910 AD).

Research methodology: The researcher followed the historical investigative approach, and worked hard to track what was written about Sheikh Faleh Al-Dhaheri, and found only biographies of him scattered in books of biographies of notables. The researcher reviewed a research by Dr. Manal bint Awad Al-Muraitab, entitled "The Impact of the Sanusi Movement in the Hijaz Region, Faleh Al-Dhaheri", published in the Journal of King Abdulaziz University.

The idea of ​​this research was to highlight the role of this scholar, and its title was (Sheikh Faleh Al-Dhaheri, and his contribution to historical writing).

The most important results:

The research revealed several results, the most important of which are the following:

- Faleh Al-Dhaheri, the scholar and jurist, was interested in history, as an extension of the interest of Muslim scholars in historical documentation.

- The Hijaz region witnessed the beginnings of the emergence of the Sanusi movement.

- The comments written by Faleh Al-Dhaheri on the book (Al-Manhal Al-Adhb) are of scientific value and a distinctive historical benefit.
