Abstract

Research Title: Transformational Leadership in the Light of the Prophetic Sunnah: Founding Principles and Applications.

This study aims to establish a foundational Islamic conception on transformational leadership and its precedence in producing a comprehensive leadership model, from the Prophetic Sunnah perspective through an inductive and analytical reading of authentic hadiths. Although the term “transformational leadership” only emerged in 1978 within Western management theory, the Prophetic Sunnah offers a more comprehensive and refined model for human development and social reform in terms of both theory and practice.

The research highlights the four pillars of contemporary transformational leadership model by drawing on authentic Prophetic narrations and numerous applied examples. “Idealized Influence” is embodied in the Prophet’s consistent moral example; “Inspirational Motivation” is realized through his call to lofty goals and binding them to eternal reward; “Intellectual Stimulation” is conveyed through discourse, raising critical thinking; and “Individualized Consideration” is evident in his recognition of individual aptitudes and tailored guidance.

The study concludes that the Prophetic approach not only encompasses these dimensions but represents a complete Prophetic leadership model that fosters inner growth and societal well-being. This places the Sunnah as a primary source and practical reference for leadership concept, while revealing the partial nature of modern theories in comparison to the comprehensive vision offered by the Prophetic tradition.
