A Study and Investigation of the Book “Al-Nukhbah Al-Shāfīyah ʿalā Qawāʻid Al-Lāmīyah” Authored by: the Great Scholar of Rabat in his Time: Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn ʻAbd Al-Qādir Al-Tādilī Al-Rabāṭī (died in the year of 1311 AH) from the Beginning of the Book to the End of the Chapter: on Explaining the Changes that Occur to the Movement of the Forwarded Letter "ʿAin", in terms of Transfer and Omission

Abstract

The book “Lāmiyat Al-Af’āl” authored by Ibn Malik is considered one of the best poems ever written in the science of morphology. Thus, scholars competed to explain it and comment on it. Among the explanations that caught my attention was the explanation of Ibrahim bin Muhammad Al-Taddili, the great scholar of Rabat in his time. His book is an explanation of the verses of "Al-Lamiya" with an illumination of some of its meanings. The author expanded on providing many examples of the verb forms mentioned in it, parsing them at length, in addition to mentioning valuable notes. For this reason, I decided to investigate part of this book, which starts from the beginning of the book to the end of the Chapter on Explaining what happens to the movement of the Forwarded letter (Al-ʿAin) in Terms of Transfer and Omission”. This part consists of almost (17) sheets.

The research included an introduction explaining the importance of the topic, the reasons for choosing it, and the approach adopted in the investigation, followed by a preface introducing the book Lāmiyat Al-Afʿāl and its most prominent explanations, then two sections:

Section One: The Study: Sheikh Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin ʿAbd Al-Qadir Al-Ribāṭī, and his book “Al-Nukhbah Al-Shāfiyah”. It includes two chapters:

The first chapter: Sheikh Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin ʿAbd Al-Qadir Al-Ribāṭī: his life and works, and it includes three subsections:

First subsection: his name and lineage.

Second subsection: his birth, upbringing and death.

Third subsection: his academic works.

The second chapter: his book “Al-Nukhbah Al-Shāfiyah ʿalā Qawā'id Al-Lāmiyah”. It includes five subsections:

First subsection: verification of the book's title.

Second subsection: verification of its attribution to the author.

Third subsection: the author's approach in the book.

Fourth subsection: his sources.

Fifth subsection: description of the handwritten copies and samples from the manuscript.

Section Two: The verified text, which starts from the beginning of the book to the end of the chapter on "Explaining What Happens to the Movement of the Forwarded Letter (Al-ʿAin) in Terms of Transfer and Omission”, consisting of (17) sheets.
