Abstract

This study addresses a controversial allegation raised by the author of the book "A Reading into the Methodology of al-Bukhari and Muslim in the Two Sahihs". The author claims that some hadiths included in the Two Sahihs were influenced by the narrators’ cultural backgrounds—particularly those pertaining to women—and argues that these hadiths were falsely attributed to the Prophet ﷺ.

The study critically examines the foundations of this claim, demonstrating its weakness and refuting the objections raised against these hadiths using sound evidence, rational argumentation, and the authoritative opinions of renowned Islamic scholars.

The research concludes that such arguments represent an extension of earlier critiques made by Orientalists. The primary basis of the allegation appears to be a perceived conflict between these hadiths and rational thought, or the absence of direct Qur’anic references to them.

Moreover, the study observes that many contemporary critics of the Prophetic Sunnah lack objectivity and fairness, and often do not possess scholarly qualifications in Islamic sciences.
