Abstract

Research Title: The Virtue of Tolerance in the Prophetic Call to their People — Surah As-Saaffat as a Model.

The nature of calling others to faith requires that the caller be characterized by noble morals, elevated qualities, and commendable attributes, so that their message may be more closer to people’s hearts and to their reality. The prophets and messengers—peace be upon them—embodied the highest ranks of these virtues, as their lives clearly reflect the noble manners and refined qualities with which they were endowed. Among these virtues is the value of tolerance in dealing with their peoples and those to whom they were sent.

This study aims to collect and analyze the Qur’anic verses related to the virtue of tolerance in the prophets’ call to their nations, with Surah As-Saffat serving as the primary model.

The research concludes with several key findings, the most prominent of which are: the prophets and messengers—peace be upon them—distinguished themselves with exemplary character and refined conduct in dealing with their communities; they preached with gentleness and compassion; they interacted with intellectual tolerance and peaceful coexistence; and the Qur’an encompasses a comprehensive ethical framework that promotes elevated morals and noble manners. Among these virtues is tolerance toward members of society.

The study recommends further examination of the prophets’ interactions with their nations, connecting these examples to modern forms of peaceful tolerance and the rejection of violence and extremism in opinions and behaviors.
