The research titled "The Effects of Economic Changes on Real Estate Zakat" aimed to clarify the concept of economic changes and their types, such as the impact of market recession, property destruction, or property taxes on property zakat. The researcher relied on the inductive approach by examining the opinions of scholars in the master books of jurisprudence, as well as the analytical approach to analyze their opinions.
The research yielded several results, the most important of which are:
- Property recession occurs when supply exceeds demand, leading to a halt in buying and selling activities and negatively affecting prices.
- A property trader is not obligated to pay zakat if they have not sold any of their assets after a year has passed or if they have sold something insufficient to cover their expenses and those of their family; zakat is only applicable to growing wealth.
- If properties are destroyed and become unusable, the owner is not liable for zakat on the damaged property because zakat is obligatory on wealth that is growing and exceeds basic needs.
The research comprehensively covers the most significant changes that have a major impact on property zakat and should not be overlooked.
