Al-Hakim al-Jushami and his Approach to Interpretation and Appropriateness

Abstract

This research aims to study al-Hakim al-Jashmi's method in his book "Al-Tahdhib fi al-Tafsir" (The Refinement of Interpretation), as well as his approach to occasions, through the same book. The importance of the author and the book, and his pioneering work in the field of occasion studies, motivated this study. I followed a descriptive, inductive, and analytical approach, dividing it into two sections: the first, in which I studied the author, and the second, in which I devoted my method. I reached the following conclusions: Al-Hakim al-Jashmi was among the first to specialize in the science of occasions in a special division called "al-Nazm" (The System). His interpretation has a unique classification, division, and arrangement. Al-Hakim al-Jashmi's approach in his interpretation addressed the correlation between verses and surahs.
