The Impact of Quranic Readings on the Discrepancy between Grammatical Functions: A Grammatical Semantic Study in Al-Durr Al-Masun fi Ulum Al-Kitab Al-Maknun by Al-Samin Al-Halabi (d. 756 AH)

Abstract

This research examines the impact of Quranic readings on the occurrence of discrepancies between grammatical functions in the interpretation of "Al-Durr Al-Masun fi Ulum Al-Kitab Al-Maknun" (The Preserved Pearls in the Sciences of the Reserved Book) by Al-Samīn Al-Halābī (d. 676 AH). The importance of this research lies in its focus on Quranic readings and the relationship between them and the science of grammar. The research aims to highlight the impact of Quranic readings on the discrepancies between grammatical functions in nouns and verbs, to demonstrate the differences in grammatical aspects and their semantic impact in the Quranic text, as well as to clarify Al-Samīn Al-Halābī's position on the occurrence of these discrepancies between grammatical functions.

I relied on the descriptive-analytical approach, collecting, interpreting and analyzing the scientific material, and presenting the grammatical opinions on the occurrence of discrepancies between grammatical functions.

Among the most important findings of the research are that Tafsir al-Durr al-Masun is one of the most significant commentaries that addressed most of the grammatical issues. It focused on directing Quranic readings, which have significant impact on the occurrence of discrepancies between grammatical functions. It also introduced some grammatical rules, such as the rule of placing the present tense verb in the accusative case linked to the causal fa', based on hope as a wish; permission to raise the present tense verb as a resumption, placing it in the accusative case by implying "anna," or placing it in the jussive case as a conjunction; placing the present tense verb in the accusative case after the lightened "anna" from the heavy "anna" preceded by a verb of preponderance, among other rules.

The research consisted of an introduction explaining the importance of the topic, its plan, and its methodology. It then included a preface explaining the intended meaning of grammatical functions and their importance in context. It was then divided into two chapters: the first: discrepancy in nouns and its semantic impact, and the second: discrepancy in verbs and its impact. Finally, it concluded with the most prominent findings of the research.
