Mulla Ali al-Qari's Comments on Imam al-Shatibi in his Book al-Dhabitiyah -A Critical Study-

Abstract

The subject of this research is the study of Mulla Ali al-Qari's critiques of the Shatibiya poem in his book Al-Dhabitiyah.

The scope of the study covers the first quarter of the book, from the beginning to the twenty-fifth section, which constitutes approximately one-fourth of the book.

The research aims to present the perspective that was left unaddressed by Imam Al-Shatibi by either referencing the responses provided by scholars or formulating answers to the issues raised by Mulla Ali al-Qari regarding specific points.

The methodology employed in this study is analytical and critical,  focusing on Mulla Ali al-Qari's commentary and responding to it based on established scholarly principles.

The research is structured into an introduction and two chapters. The first chapter examines the author and the book,  while the second chapter provides an applied study on the first quarter of Al- Dhabitiyah.

The study concludes with several findings,  including that all the objections raised by Mulla Ali al-Qari against the verses of the Shatibiya have valid and sound responses. In most cases,  Al-Shatibi's arguments are stronger and more convincing than those of his critic.

The researcher recommends further investigation into all the issues critiqued in Al-Shatibi's works across various commentaries and providing responses to them,  as this would yield a wealth of scholarly material.
