Abstract

This research aims to clarify the definition, importance, and history of the discussion of general matters in Ash'ari theological thought. This is achieved through studying and tracing Ash'ari theological corpora. It also explains the nature of these discussions, their importance to the major principles of belief, and how they are integrated into theological research.

This research examines the definition and importance of general matters in Ash'ari theological thought. It then traces the historical context of the philosophical influence on the discussion of general matters, and the influence of Al-Razi's theological school in shaping the final image of general matters in Ash'ari theology. It employs three research models: inductive, analytical, and historical.

 One of the most important findings of the research is the demonstration of Al-Razi's influence in refining the concept of general matters in Ash'ari thought. Also, these subtle discussions were so important that they became an introduction to the major fundamentals of belief and a refutation of opponents' arguments. In addition, the history of general matters in Ash'ari thought was influenced by the philosophical tendency in its style of arrangement and organization, beginning with the theological works of Al-Fakhr Al-Razi and those who followed him.
