The level of digital academic self-concept among faculty members in English language departments at Jordanian universities

Abstract

The study aimed to reveal the level of digital academic self-concept among faculty members in English language departments at Jordanian universities. The study followed the descriptive survey approach, and the study sample consisted of (102) faculty members working in the English language departments in Jordanian public and private universities, represented by (Amman Private University, Amman Arab University, Applied Science University, University of Jordan, Hashemite University, and Al-Balqa Applied University). The study tool was a questionnaire employed to reveal the degree of representation of faculty members in English language departments in Jordanian universities of the concept of the digital academic self, and it consisted of (16) paragraphs distributed over three areas, which are: (the concept of the digital academic self, the functional representation of the digital academic self in teaching, and the functional representation in research and digital competence as an element of the digital academic self). The results showed that the level of digital academic self-concept among faculty members in English language departments at Jordanian universities was average.

In light of the study's findings, the study recommended the need to organize specialized training programs to enhance faculty members' understanding of the concept of the digital academic self and its requirements in university education.
